FAQs

  • What is the lifespan of a septic pump?

The longevity of a septic pump can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the quality of the pump, its installation, and how well it's maintained. Generally, a well-managed septic pump should last between 10 to 15 years. However, this can be extended with regular professional maintenance and by avoiding practices that could potentially damage the system.

Not only do we offer efficient septic pump services but can also assist with sewage pumps as well as sump, and well pumps.

  • How often should I have my septic pump and system serviced?

It’s recommended that you service your septic pump at least once every three years. This frequency ensures any potential issues are caught early before they lead to significant problems or system failure. However, the frequency may vary depending on usage volume and the size of your household.

A more significant number of residents or high usage might require more frequent servicing - perhaps annually or biennially. Regular servicing not only keeps your system running smoothly but also extends its lifespan by ensuring small problems are addressed before they escalate into larger ones.

Septic systems installed after the year 2000, have a biofilter installed inside the tank at the outlet pipe. This filter protects your septic system's tile bed. These filters should be cleaned annually.

  • What are the signs that my septic pump needs replacement?

Early indicators that may signal your septic pump requires replacement typically include frequent backups in toilets or drains and unpleasant odours around your property. These signs indicate that waste is not being efficiently transported from your tank to the drain field as it should be.

In more severe cases, you might notice wet areas around the septic tank area or even raw sewage surfacing above ground level - both alarming signs of a failing system requiring immediate attention. Remember always to contact professionals for evaluation when these symptoms occur because delaying could lead to further damage and higher repair costs.

  • Can I install or replace my septic pump?

Septic system repairs are regulated by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. Only Licensed On-site Septic Installers can legally install or repair septic pumps, tanks and leaching beds. Call the Plumbing Doctor who is Licensed to do this work and has over 30 years of experience.
